Job description

Physical Therapist - Outpatient Orthopedics

nDowntown Portsmouth, NH | 100% Cash-Based | New Grads Welcome | Celebrating 10 Years

nIf you're tired of being told how many patients to see, fighting insurance for what your patients actually need, and watching your skills plateau because your clinic doesn't actually invest in you - keep reading.

nYou went to PT school to be excellent. You deserve to work somewhere that lets you become it.

nWhether you're a new grad looking for real mentorship or an experienced PT ready to reset a career that's stalled out, this is built for you.

nAbout Us

nCJ Physical Therapy & Pilates is a 100% cash-based outpatient clinic in downtown Portsmouth, NH. For 10 years, we've helped adults 40+ stay active, mobile, and out of the surgery, injection, and medication cycle.

nAnd our clients are a big part of what makes working here different.

nOur clientele is mostly in their 40s and up. They're active. Intelligent. Curious. They ask great questions and have a vested interest in having agency over their health, movement, and longevity.

nThey don't just want their pain to go away. They want to understand what's happening, get stronger, stay active, and keep doing the things that matter to them for decades to come.

nHonestly - our clients are the best.

nOur clinical model is built on three specialties:

nnnMechanical Diagnosis & Therapy (MDT / McKenzie Method)

n

nnPilates-based rehab using the tower, chair, and reformer

n

nnRegenerative therapies including Shockwave (EPAT/ESWT) and EMTT

n

n nYou don't need experience in all three to apply. We provide structured training and mentorship in every specialty. What you do need is the standards and curiosity to actually master them.

nAnd we're not planning to stay the same size.

nWe're celebrating our 10th year - and we're entering our biggest growth phase yet. Our goal is to 10x the business over the next three years.

nWe don't have every piece of that mapped out yet. That's the point.

nWe're building the next version of CJPT now - expanding our team, developing new leaders, growing our services, and ultimately bringing this model of care to far more people.

nIf you want to simply walk into an established role and do the same job for the next five years, this probably isn't the place for you.

nBut if the idea of joining a growing company early, helping shape what comes next, and having opportunities that don't even exist yet sounds exciting - keep reading.

nWhat Our Team Actually Says

nWe could tell you what it's like to work here. It's better to hear it from the people who do.

n"I interviewed at a few places. The thing that kept setting CJPT apart was the mentorship and support. Six months in, my PT school friends are burning out and feeling spread thin. I'm not. Every day I leave reminded I made the right decision."

nnDr. Maddie, joined as a new grad

n n"I was a PT for 17 years and done with the insurance model - coding for medical necessity instead of treating people. I found this clinic and reset my career. I haven't seen this much improvement in my patients anywhere else, and I wouldn't go back."

nnDr. Todd, joined after 17 years in insurance-based care

n nNever Done Cash-Pay Before? Neither Had Most of Us.

nThe most common concern we hear from great candidates is the same one: "Will I know how to talk to patients about paying out of network?"

nHere's the truth. Almost no one on our team had done it before they got here.

nIt's the one fear that disappears fastest because we train it directly. You'll learn exactly how to have confident conversations about value, pricing, and long-term care - the same way you'll learn MDT and regenerative therapies.

nYou don't need to walk in knowing how. You need to be willing to learn it.

nIf you believe people deserve real, unhurried care and you're willing to be coached on the rest, you'll thrive here.

nWhy You'll Love Working Here

nWe invest in your growth - structurally, not just in words.

nnnOur clinic closes every Tuesday for 3 hours of dedicated team training. Real case discussions, real skill development, real mentorship with Carrie and the full clinical team. This isn't a 15-minute huddle squeezed between patients - it's a weekly, protected investment in your craft. It's the single thing our team names most when they talk about why they stay.

n

nnWe just promoted one of our Staff PTs to Senior PT / Clinical Director in Training. The growth path here isn't a promise on a job ad - we've already walked someone down it.

n

nn$2,000 annual CEU allowance + dedicated CEU days that don't eat into your PTO

n

nnA clear progression into advanced certifications, mentorship roles, and clinical leadership - based on results, not tenure

n

nnThe opportunity to grow with the company. If we accomplish what we're setting out to accomplish over the next three years, we'll need more than great clinicians. We'll need clinical leaders, mentors, trainers, and people who want to help build what comes next.

n

n nThe day-to-day supports the work - and protects you from burnout.

nnn60-minute, 1:1 PT sessions and 30-minute regenerative therapy sessions - one patient at a time, fully present

n

nnZero insurance battles, productivity quotas, or documentation rabbit holes

n

nnYou build real relationships with patients you actually get to know, and you see them through to the result - not just until the pain stops

n

nnCollaborative, feedback-driven team. Low ego, high standards. Nobody's alone on an island here.

n

nnFun, dog-friendly, low-drama culture in the heart of downtown Portsmouth

n

n nYour Role

nnnEvaluate and treat patients using the MDT framework as your foundation (training provided if you're new to it)

n

nnIntegrate Pilates-based rehab (tower, chair, reformer) and regenerative therapies (Shockwave, EMTT) to deliver outcomes most clinics can't

n

nnOwn your patient outcomes - retention, results, and long-term transformation

n

nnShow up fully for our Tuesday training blocks and weekly mentorship

n

nnParticipate in community events and team experiences that build the culture

n

nnContribute ideas, take ownership, and help us build a better company as we grow

n

n nYou'll Thrive Here If...

nnnYou're done with insurance-driven volume, productivity targets, and overlapping visits with not enough time to help people

n

nnYou want a challenge and you won't settle - you're hungry to keep learning and getting better week by week

n

nnYou take ownership of patient outcomes, not just hours worked

n

nnYou actively want feedback and push your own development

n

nnYou enjoy working with active, motivated adults who ask questions and want to understand their health

n

nnYou see patients as long-term relationships, not transactions

n

nnYou believe high-quality, cash-pay care is the future of PT

n

nnYou're energized by growth, change, and the opportunity to help build something bigger

n

n nThis Isn't For You If...

nnnYou need to be told exactly what to do and how to do it

n

nnYou want to be left alone clinically with no feedback or training

n

nnYou're looking for a slow-paced, low-accountability environment

n

nnYou want your job to look exactly the same three years from now

n

nnYou think volume and productivity units are the right way to measure a PT

n

nnYou're more interested in your credentials than what your patients actually achieve

n

n nWhat We're Looking For

nnnNH-licensed Physical Therapist (or license-eligible), including new grads

n

nnExcited to learn and apply MDT as your primary evaluation framework

n

nnPassionate about client education and movement-based rehab

n

nnCurious about regenerative therapies and ready to add them to your toolkit

n

nnAccountable, coachable, and a real team player

n

nnSomeone who wants to become an exceptional clinician - and potentially grow into much more as the company grows

n

n nCompensation & Benefits

nnnSalary: $85K - $115K (depending on experience and prior con-ed)

n

nn$250/month toward company-sponsored health insurance

n

nn50% dental premium paid by employer

n

nn401(k) with up to 4% company match

n

nnPaid holidays + PTO

n

nnClinic closed (and paid) between Christmas and New Year's, in addition to PTO

n

nnCompany-sponsored short-term disability + family medical leave

n

nn$2,000 annual CEU allowance + CEU days separate from PTO

n

nnReal career advancement based on outcomes and growth - not tenure

n

nn$3K sign-on bonus: $1,500 upon start; $1,500 after a successful 90-day onboarding

n
