Job description
Physical Therapist - School Setting in Apopka, FL
Step into a meaningful role supporting K-12 students as an itinerant Physical Therapist, where your expertise will help empower children to achieve their full potential in a dynamic school environment. This contract opportunity offers flexibility, as both full-time and part-time candidates are encouraged to apply to support ongoing needs for the school year.
As a therapist, expect a varied caseload of approximately 94 students ranging from Pre-K to high school delivered collaboratively with another PT and a PTA. Each day means visiting 2 to 3 school sites, providing both direct therapy and consultative services. While the district prefers candidates with prior school-based experience, all licensed Physical Therapists with a passion for educational impact will be considered.
Qualifications:
Current, active Florida Physical Therapy license
Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred
Strong communication, multitasking, and collaboration skills
Ability to travel between schools as assigned
Commitment to supporting diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct and indirect PT services to students per IEP requirements
Schedule and travel between 2-3 schools daily within an assigned group
Coordinate with teachers, staff, and families to develop student-centered plans
Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance
Participate in IEP meetings and team consultations as needed
The position offers stability with an assignment that could extend through the full academic year, depending on district needs. Full-time hours are 7:30am-4:00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, but there are multiple part-time roles available to ensure work-life balance.
The district is beginning interviews as soon as 9/16, so candidates should be prepared to complete time-sensitive credentialing and onboarding requirements via a streamlined, district-led process.
Bring your passion for making a difference in students lives. Apply today and play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of young learners!
