nGeneral Summary:
nnnResponsible for assessing, planning and implementing the physical therapy care and treatment of patients in an effective and professional manner in accordance with Maryland State law and the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Practice and Ethics.
n
nnCollaborates with physicians, medical professionals, staff and families to ensure quality care.
n
nnTherapists provide assessment and care for patients of all ages from the neonates through the geriatric patient.
n
nnTherapists utilize the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patients’ age to meet the unique needs of each patient.
n
nnAdditional training may be required to work with specified groups of patients as determined by department guidelines and best practice.
n
nnSupports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
n
n nMinimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):
nnnCurrent Maryland license verified by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
n
nnCurrent CPR certification
n
n nMinimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
nnnGraduate of an accredited school with a B.S., M.S. or D.P.T. degree in Physical Therapy
n
nnAdheres to the APTA Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics
n
nnMust be able to evaluate and treat patients in any hospital unit within professional scope of practice ads, writes, speaks, and comprehends the English language
n
nnMust be able to work weekends and holidays
n
nnMust be willing and able to become proficient on basic computer systems utilized for documentation, scheduling and charging systems.
n
n nWorking Conditions:
nPhysical Requirements : Capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift patients up to 35 pounds.
nVisual Acuity : The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
nEnvironmental Conditions : The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways
nReporting Relationship:
nReports to and is evaluated by the Section Coordinator of Physical Therapy
nReports to and is evaluated by the Director of Physical Medicine
nMay be supervised by Charge Therapist or Lead Therapist
nAssumes accountability and responsibility for the supervision of students, volunteers, and aides within the scope of the discipline
