Physical Therapy AssistantLocation: Aztec, New MexicoJob Type: Contract Work Model: 100% Onsite Employment Type: Part-TimeSchedule: 30 Hours/Week | 7.5 Hours/Day × 4 Days/WeekMaximum Annual Hours: 1,110 Hours/YearStudent Service Days: 148 Student Contact Days + 5 Administrative DaysContract Duration: 2026–2027 School YearRenewal Option: Up to 3 Additional One-Year RenewalsClient is seeking qualified and experienced Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) professionals to provide special education-related therapy services to students across district schools. The district serves approximately 2,050 students across elementary, middle, and high schools within the Four Corners region of New Mexico. The district is seeking pediatric-focused therapy professionals experienced in working with students with disabilities, IEP-driven therapy services, evaluations, parent collaboration, and school-based therapy support. The PTA will provide direct therapy services aligned with student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), support evaluations and assessments, participate in IEP meetings, collaborate with staff and parents, and assist with student mobility and therapy goals in compliance with state and federal educational standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong pediatric and school-based therapy experience, excellent collaboration skills, and experience working with children with disabilities within educational settings.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Student Therapy ServicesProvide direct physical therapy services according to student IEP requirementsCoordinate therapy schedules consistent with school calendars and student needsAssist students in improving mobility, physical functioning, and participation within educational settingsMaintain therapy documentation and student progress recordsEducational Evaluations & AssessmentsParticipate in educational evaluations and diagnosis supportAssist with: instrument administration, interpretation support, student evaluationsSupport comprehensive written reports and therapy recommendationsIEP & Collaboration ActivitiesParticipate in student IEP meetingsCollaborate with: teachers, related service providers, administrators, parents/guardiansCoordinate services for students identified by IEP teams or Student Assistance TeamsConsultation & TrainingProvide consultation and training support as requested by district administrationParticipate in staff coordination activitiesSupport therapy-related guidance for school personnel and familiesCompliance & DocumentationEnsure therapy services comply with: New Mexico Public Education Department standards, district policies, state and federal special education regulationsMaintain active New Mexico licensure throughout contract durationProvide updated license renewals as requiredMaterials & EquipmentProvide own testing kits, therapy materials, and professional resources required for servicesMust-Have QualificationsCurrent New Mexico PTA LicenseCurrent New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) Licensure with endorsementExperience working with: children, pediatric populations, students with disabilitiesStrong understanding of: IEP processes, school-based therapy services, educational evaluationsStrong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to pass fingerprinting and criminal background checks prior to assignmentProfessional liability insurance requiredAbility to work onsite within district schoolsPreferred QualificationsPrior school-based PTA experiencePediatric rehabilitation experienceExperience participating in IEP meetingsExperience conducting evaluations and therapy documentationPrior experience working with public school districtsExperience collaborating with multidisciplinary educational teamsFamiliarity with New Mexico school special education compliance standardsCore SkillsPhysical Therapy Assistant (PTA), Pediatric Therapy, School-Based Therapy, IEP Support, Student Mobility Therapy, Educational Evaluations, Therapy Documentation, Parent & Staff Collaboration, Special Education Services, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Student Assessments, Multidisciplinary Coordination, School Healthcare Services, New Mexico PED Compliance
