Job DescriptionPRN DAYSThe PTA performs patient treatments as indicated by the treatment plan. Documents treatments given, including frequent and objective measurements. Works with adult patients with clinical competency. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.ResponsibilitiesGeneral Functions:Performs selected tests and measurements in consultation with the therapistInterprets the evaluation for frequently referred diagnosis, asks questions when necessary and seeks guidance concerning more complex situationsReviews patient charts and progress prior to treatment and modifies the treatment accordingly within parameters of the treatment planInstructs and involves patient, family, and nursing staff in patient's progress and discharge plans, makes appropriate discharge recommendations to the therapist and attends appropriate meetingsUses appropriate modalities and procedures, demonstrates understanding of the therapist's selection and asks for clarification as necessaryDepartment/Business Unit Functions:Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of principles of growth and development over the lifespanMaintains documentation on all treatmentsAssures appropriate equipment performance prior to each useProvides in-service to staffOrganizes schedule to reflect patient priorities and needs of other staffDelegates responsibility to supportive personnel appropriatelyProvides clinical education for PTA students, after 1 years of experienceInforms supervisor of incidents, accidents, equipment failure or unusual physician or patient problems immediatelyUtilizes resources efficiently and effectivelyMaintains safe environmentAddresses patient population-specific needsParticipates in Performance Improvement activitiesQualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION: Associates Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant. Active U.S. military service members or veterans with any military service, training or education verified and credited by an accredited PTA program is acceptable.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: No previous work experience needed.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Previous PTA experience in inpatient/outpatient settingsREQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State licensePREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: See Preferred Certification ListingREQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.About UsNortheast Baptist Hospital Hospital is committed to providing exceptional patient care in a supportive and collaborative environment.
