Job description
Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - School BasedUnder supervision of a physical therapist, provide school-based physical therapy services to students in educational settings.Support functional mobility, gross motor skills, and participation in classroom activities; collaborate with school staff to assist with achievable objectives.ResponsibilitiesImplement individualized treatment plans for students under PT supervisionAssist with mobility training, balance, strength, and functional activitiesSupport classroom participation and functional goals within the school dayAssist with equipment management and seating/positioning guidanceDocument progress and communicate with the supervising PT and school teamEducate students, families, and school staff on home exercise programs and safetyMaintain a safe, organized treatment environment in the school settingQualificationsAssociate degree from an ACOTE-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the practicing state.CPR/BLS certificationExperience working with pediatric populations and school-based therapy is preferred; strong collaboration with educators and families.ExperienceExperience providing PT services in pediatric or school-based settingsExperience collaborating with teachers and school staffPreferredExperience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment in schoolsBilingual abilitiesWork EnvironmentSchool-based setting with regular school hours and possible after-school meetings; collaboration within a multidisciplinary school team; documentation in district health or EHR systems.Travel between campuses or buildings may be required; emphasis on supporting students within the classroom and gym environments.
