Surgical Physician Assistant provides patient care in all peri-operative settings through the performance of patient evaluation, assessment and treatment in the medical office/inpatient setting, as well as assisting physicians in patient surgery.
Position Details
Full-time (40 hours/week)
Days, Monday - Friday
One weekend call per month or 1:4 (Saturday & Sunday)
65% inpatient / 35% outpatient (rotating between days in the hospital and days in the clinic to provide full support in both, as well as possible outreach locations)
Team includes 7 physicians and 3 Physician Assistants
Patient volume: 25/week in clinic and 30-35/week in the hospital
Highly autonomous role with support of the surgeons and APPs
Experience
Proven knowledge of sterile technique standards
Suturing experience
General surgery/OR experience
General knowledge of Da Vinci robot operations preferred
Six months of related experience in general surgery preferred
Licenses & Certifications
Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
Must be board certified
Georgia licensure or ability to obtain
Will consider a new graduate with general surgery experience
Qualifications
Able to communicate effectively with medical and hospital staff and various populations in clinics and public screening events.
Must be capable of dealing tactfully and effectively with patients, family members, other employees and physicians
Must maintain high degree of confidentiality.
Must meet credentialing criteria.
Must possess the cognitive ability to understand patient medical records, physician orders and medical orders to be communicated to patient, hospital and/or other physician.
Must possess the sense or discipline to work in accordance with accepted clinical standards.
