nPosition Summary Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital is seeking a Per-Diem Psychiatrist at approximately one half-time commitment to provide high-quality psychiatric care in an acute care hospital setting. This position includes direct patient evaluation and treatment as well as consultation-liaison services to medical, surgical, obstetric, and emergency departments. The role is weekday-based with flexible, negotiable hours.
nKey Responsibilities
nnnPerform comprehensive psychiatric assessments and provide diagnosis and treatment planning for hospitalized patients.
n
nnDeliver direct psychiatric care, including medication management, patient education and therapeutic interventions, on a DMH-licensed inpatient psychiatry unit.
n
nnProvide consultation-liaison psychiatry services to medical, surgical, obstetric, and emergency services.
n
nnProvide, as assigned, occasional inpatient coverage for psychiatric clinical staff.
n
nnCollaborate closely with multidisciplinary care teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and allied health professionals.
n
nnDocument clinical encounters in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
n
nnParticipate in care coordination and discharge planning as appropriate.
n
nnPerform other related duties as assigned.

nnnMonday-Friday coverage only

nnApproximately half-time per-diem commitment
n
nnHours and specific scheduling to be negotiated

n nQualifications
nnnMD or DO with completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency
n
nnBoard-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry
n
nnEligible for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
n
nnExperience or interest in consultation-liaison psychiatry preferred
n
nnCore competencies and experience in identifying, assessing, and treating substance use disorders (SUDs), including screening for all substances, understanding co-occurring mental health conditions and using evidence-based interventions like motivational interviewing, psychopharmacology (including MAT)
n
nnStrong interpersonal and collaborative skills and demonstrated success in working in a fast-paced clinical environment that requires timely completion of tasks and consistently respectful treatment of patients and staff of diverse backgrounds.
