nHow you make a difference
nThe Physician is responsible for assessing and treating patients' physical health including conducting exams and coordinating outside referrals. The role includes oversight of clinical care activities provided by ARNPs, documentation, and after-hours on-call responsibilities. This position performs minor procedures and collaborates with psychiatric and interdisciplinary staff to ensure integrated care. Physicians also educate patients and families, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and tailor treatment plans to the patient's age and development. Travel may be required depending on facility needs, and work is primarily in correctional or clinical settings.
nKey Responsibilities
nnnAssess patients' physical health through examinations and diagnostic procedures
n
nnProvide and oversee documentation, outside referrals, consultations, and follow-ups
n
nnOffer clinical oversight and support to ARNPs, including care provision and documentation review
n
nnPerform minor medical procedures such as sutures, IV placement, and lumbar puncture
n
nnCollaborate with interdisciplinary staff and provide education to patients and families
n
n nAdditional Details
n0.5 FTE
n(2) 10-hour shifts/week
n nOn Call Requirement (2-3 days per month)
nWeekends and Holidays as needed
nQualifications & Requirements
nEDUCATION
nnMedical doctorate (MD) or doctor of osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university
n nEXPERIENCE
nnnTwo (2) years post-residency clinical experience in an outpatient/inpatient setting
n
nnPsychiatric experience preferred
n
n nLICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
nnnLicensed in the state of employment
n
nnCurrent Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and applicable certifications
n
nnBoard certified or eligible in internal or family medicine
n
