Job DescriptionEmergency Medicine Medical Director / Department Chair – Nags Head, North Carolina Setting: Community Hospital Emergency DepartmentPosition Type: Full-Time, Leadership + ClinicalQuick-Screen Requirements Licenses & Certifications Board Certified in Emergency Medicine – REQUIRED (Not accepting BE for this leadership role)
Experience / Skills Experienced Emergency Medicine physician with prior leadership, director-level, or administrative experience
Proven capability in:
Operational management
Staffing oversight
Budget/financial management
Performance improvement
Quality & safety initiatives
Able to provide direct clinical care in addition to administrative dutiesCandidate Fit Strong communicator, collaborative leadership style
Comfortable overseeing a diverse ED team

Leadership + Clinical Responsibilities Leadership Duties Include: Medical Director + Department Chair oversight
Staffing & schedule management
Financial management / operational oversight
Quality, safety & performance improvement initiatives
Collaboration with system leadership & academic partners
Support from East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine
Clinical Duties Include: Direct patient care in the ED
Working alongside existing physician and APP teams
ED & Team Structure 21-bed Emergency Department
Annual patient volume: ~23,100 visits/year
Team: 6 Emergency Medicine physicians + 9 APPs
Telestroke support
