nIndependence Health Physician Practices has an exciting opportunity for a Physician- Neurology in Westmoreland County. The Physician, Neurologist, examines, diagnoses and treats outpatient patients. The position manages patients through the continuum of care by collaborating with other medical professionals including Clinical Assistants, Medical Assistants, Clerical and Administrative staff. The position orders treatments, tests, mediation and consults with other specialty physicians and primary care physician where appropriate. nEssential Job Functions
nnnRefer patients to medical specialist, social services or other professionals as appropriate
n
nnProvide direct patient care services at the assigned Neurology offices
n
nnShare on-call responsibilities for the Neurology Department during holidays, evenings and weekends.
n
nnAssist with the interviewing and selection of prospective candidates for Neurology.
n
nnAttend assigned medical group conference and meetings upon requests.
n
nnCommunicate with patients’ primary care physicians to maintain continuity and quality of care
n
nnPrescribe medications or treatment regimens as appropriate
n
nnOrder or interpret the results of tests such as laboratory tests and radiography (x-rays) and advanced imaging.
n
nnDiagnose, treat or provide continuous care to patients.
n
nnWorks in a modern environment including audio-dictation, EMR and digital radiology
n
nnOther duties as assigned.
n
n nCompetency and Experience (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
nRequired Qualifications/Experience
nnnDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
n
nnFour (4) to seven (7) years of internship and residency training, pertaining to neurological specialties.
n
nnStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
n
nnStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
n
n nPreferred Qualifications/Experience
nnn2-4 years’ experience in neurology.
n
nnExperience in Healthcare setting.
n
n nLicense, Certification & Clearances
nnnCurrent medical license in the state of Pennsylvania.
n
nnCertification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
n
nnDEA License
n
nnAct 33 with renewal
n
nnAct 34 with renewal
n
nnAct 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
n
nnBasic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
n
n nPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work
nnnIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
n
nnTravel may be expected locally between System locations.
