Living and working in the Catawba Valley area truly represents the best of both worlds. Nestled in the lush rolling foothills of North Carolina s scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, the area is a natural haven of sheltering trees, cool streams and wide, winding lakes and rivers with a mild climate that displays the best of all seasons. Yet for all its pastoral splendor, the Hickory Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is the fourth largest in the state with a population of approximately 400,000. Known world-wide for its furniture, hosiery and textile manufacturing, it has rapidly grown into one of the largest centers of manufacturing.
Designated by National Geographic as one of the "Best Small Cities in the U.S.", this area is a wonderful place to live. Golfing, boating, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, camping, tennis and cycling can all be enjoyed throughout the year in and around the area. The Catawba Valley is also home to its own minor league professional baseball team and stock car racing speedway, with additional sporting events such as the NFL s Carolina Panthers, the NBA s Charlotte Bobcats and Winston Cup Racing at Lowes Motor Speedway only an hour s drive away in Charlotte.
