Job description

As a Physician - OB Hospitalist, you will provide and coordinate patient care in accordance with Ochsner’s core values: Patients First, Integrity, Compassion, Inclusivity, Teamwork, and Excellence. The successful candidate will:
Examine patients to diagnose clinical conditions and prescribe appropriate medication, treatments, and follow‑up care.
Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
Provide direct and indirect care by working with a multidisciplinary team to formulate treatment plans.
Document patient encounters in the Electronic Health Record in a timely manner.
Request additional medical evaluations and make referrals as necessary.
Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and hold others to those standards.
Collaborate with all department members to provide quality patient care.
Ensure accurate coding of all patient visits.
Comply with policies, procedures, bylaws, and standards of care that align with accreditation, state and federal licensure, Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements.
Education and Experience: Board certified or eligible for certification in the physician’s primary specialty.
Licensed practicing provider (MD/DO).
Credentialed and willing to maintain clinical practice.
Additional Requirements: Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the area of responsibility.
Compliance & Privacy Program adherence, including immediate reporting of unethical or questionable behaviors.
Physical demands: Light work (exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, etc.) and ability to travel within and between facilities.
Handling of hazardous drugs and contaminated products as required.
