nnnWork Schedule: Our hospital needs are:

nn16-hour weekday shift, 4:30 pm to 8:30 am; or,

nn24-hour weekend shift, 8:30 am to 8:30 am

As the State’s public hospital we provide treatment of mental illness and currently comprised of 18 inpatient units over two campuses (Middletown and Hartford). nPURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

nIn a state agency this class is accountable for providing part-time medical treatment services to patients.

nEXAMPLES OF DUTIES

nnnProvides 24-hour medical supervision to specified groups of patients and facility coverage as scheduled, including on-call and weekend coverage;

n

nnExamines, diagnoses and medically treats patients;

n

nnDevelops and monitors integrated treatment plans;

n

nnInterviews, examines and admits patients to treatment;

n

nnPerforms physical examinations;

n

nnOrders, analyzes and interprets medical and laboratory tests;

n

nnPrescribes appropriate medications and treatments;

n

nnCoordinates treatment with other therapeutic programs;

n

nnProvides medical expertise and consultation to treatment teams;

nnOrders and monitors special treatment procedures;

nnPerforms discharge planning;

n nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

nCompletion of one (1) year of a residency program.

nnnIncumbents must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. 1320a-7b(f).

nnIncumbents in this class may be required to possess and maintain relevant registration(s) and/or certification(s).

n

nnIncumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a license to practice medicine and surgery in Connecticut. A temporary license may be granted for a period not to exceed one (1) year.

n

nnIncumbents in this class may be required to demonstrate continued competency and proficiency in the practice of medicine by successfully completing an established agency program.

n

nnIncumbents in this class may be required to be board-certified in internal medicine, family medicine or neurology.

n

nnIncumbents in this class may be required to be bilingual.
