Orthopedic Surgeon Opportunity
The Department of Surgery/Orthopedics at the V.A. Boston Healthcare System (VABHCS) affiliated with Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH)/Harvard Medical School (HMS), and Boston University (BU) are actively seeking an orthopedic surgeon. Experience and practice in joint arthroplasty, shoulder and upper extremity surgery are required. Candidates should have an outstanding clinical and academic track record and be interested in the education of residents and fellows. Candidates will also be selected based on experience, leadership and skills. Candidates will be eligible for appointment as the Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor at HMS or BU.
Major Duties
Provide comprehensive orthopedic surgical care with emphasis on joint arthroplasty
Perform operative and non-operative management including evaluation, surgery, and follow-up.
Participate in education of residents and fellows.
Contribute to interdisciplinary teamwork and quality improvement efforts.
Engage in academic activity including teaching and scholarly work.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
