JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Cardiothoracic Surgery Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Duluth, MN Service Setting: Inpatient Coverage Type: Call Only Coverage Period: Oct 01, 2026 Ongoing Call Schedule: 24-hr call 7-14 days/month Call Type: Beeper Call Ratio: 1:2 Call Response Time: 20 minutes Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: 4-5 Admissions: 4-5 Rounding: Yes Phone Consults: 4-5 FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds: 267 Trauma Level: II EMR System: Epic Support Staff: MAs: 1, PA/NPs: 3, Office Staff: 1 PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Temporary Privileges Available: Yes REQUIRED PROCEDURES Required General CV/thoracic surgery Coronary artery bypass surgery Congenital defects (ASD, VSD, PFO, etc.) Valvular repair & replacement Aneurysm repair Lung resection (including VATs) Chest wall or pleural procedures Esophagus and diaphragm surgeries AICD (Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator) Left ventricular assist devices TAVR, CABG Vent Management Bronchoscopy Eval. And management of acute vol/BP issues Insertion of C-line, A-line, PA Catheter, IABP JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC/BE Licenses: Licensed in MN or IMLC Certifications: ACLS, ATLS Fellowship: Required Duties & Responsibilities Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical coverage including open and endoscopic surgeries. Manage pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for cardiothoracic patients. Perform on-call duties as part of a 1:2 call rotation with 20-minute response time. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, anesthesia, and support staff. Document patient encounters in Epic EMR and adhere to hospital protocols.
