Job description
This national health system is seeking a board certified/board eligible Trauma Surgeon to join our hospital located in Jacksonville, part of Floridas largest healthcare system with 11,000 physician colleagues. This surgeon will join a strong trauma surgical team providing acute care surgery and surgical ICU care. Qualified Candidates:Board certified in General Surgery with Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.Have a current, or be able to obtain an unrestricted license to practice in Florida - notsubject to any restrictions, probationary terms or conditionsNo history of license to practice being revoked, restricted or suspended by any professional licensing agency in any state or jurisdictionHave current, unrestricted DEA registrationPosition:Permanent positions with equitable scheduling model and unique work/rest model (14 shifts per month; 12 hours per shift on call)Supported by a multispecialty team of Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery and Interventional Radiology26 ORs and 36 ICU beds combined TICU/MICU56-bed emergency department with 2 dedicated trauma bays and 4 additional critical care bays2000+ annual trauma patients entered in the registryFlorida State verified Level II Trauma CenterTwo In-house trauma staff surgeons everyday and one at night with APP coverageThe acute care surgery team supported by six advanced practice professionals.The program participates in TQIP and TQIP collaboratives.Trauma service covers acute care surgery at least 22 days per monthHigh volume of blunt / penetrating trauma (80% / 20%)Pediatric trauma (under 16 years old) stabilized and transferred to pediatric centerIncentive/Benefits Package:Employment position through health system Physician Services Group (PSG)Highly competitive compensationComprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, short & long term disability options, 401k and moreCME time / allowanceOccurrence-based malpracticeAbout the hospital:The Hospital is a full-service, acute-care hospital with 454 inpatient bedsLevel II trauma centerRated Leapfrog A for Patient SafetyIn 2021, over 130,000 patients treated, 84,717 ED visits, and 1067 birthsAbout Jacksonville, FL:With over 200 days of sunshine per year, no state income taxes, lower cost of living, proximity to 22 miles of beaches, the largest urban park system in the nation, world-class fishing, vibrant street arts scene, and local distilleries and craft breweries, Jacksonville is a top destination to work and live.
