Pipe Fabrication TackerThe Shaw Group is seeking an experienced Pipe Fabrication Tacker to join our fabrication team at the Beaumont Shop. Our Pipe Fabrication Tackers weld, fabricate, and assist pipefitters in building piping assemblies for industrial projects. We're looking for candidates with strong heavy-shop fabrication experience.This position does not offer Per Diem.Benefits:PTO after 90 days of employmentPaid HolidaysMedical, Dental, Vision (eligible within 30 days of hire)Basic and Voluntary Life with AD&DShort/long term disabilityAccident, critical illness, hospital indemnityEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)FSA, HAS, and Depend Care Flexible Spending AccountLegal plan401K with company matchBasic Qualifications Successfully pass the on-site test: GTAW 2" schedule 40 in a 6G position - Weld out to flushMust pass visual inspectionMust have prior pipe fabrication experience in an industrial shop setting (heavy shop background strongly preferred)Must be proficient in GTAW (TIG) welding on pipeMust be able to pass the required weld test described aboveFamiliarity with reading and interpreting WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications)Must be able to meet all physical requirementsAbility to work safely and effectively as part of a fabrication crewStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipReliable work history with a strong, demonstrated work ethicResponsibilities:Obtains specified filling medal pending job schedule.Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by Welding EngineerStarts power supply to produce electric currentStrikes arc which generates heat to make and deposit metal from electrode to work piece and join edges of work pieceWelds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positionsWill clean, degrease weld joint or work piece using grinder, using wire brush, ETCMay repair broken or cracked parts and fill holesMay preheat work piece, using hand torch or rose budMay position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixtureMay tack assemblies togetherMay cut metal plates or structural shapesMay be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associationsPerforming only those jobs on which they have been trained and/or authorizedWorking in accordance with safe job practices and complying with company safety rulesUsing required personal protective equipmentReporting unsafe conditions or practicesCooperating during investigation of any accidents that occurTaking an active part and participating in safety meetings, pre-job safety briefings, task hazard analyses and Job Safety AnalysesHas knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular fieldRelies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the jobWorks under minimum supervision.
