Our client in the commercial laundry industry is currently seeking a Plant Manager in Long Island, NY. Plant/Production manager experience in commercial laundry is required.
The Plant Manager is responsible for the decision making, direction and coordination of the efficient processing of all linen products including production planning and control, engineering production inspection, plant maintenance, purchasing and inventory control. This is a leadership position with hands-on responsibility and accountability for daily production flow and bottom-line results.
This is a busy, high-volume plant. The plant is open 5 days a week, currently on a single shift with a skeleton crew on weekends. It can process up to 200K lbs./day and is a mixed plant doing F&B Rental, COG Hospitality and COG Healthcare out of a single 60K sq ft location.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing plant safety, operation, costs and budgeting.
Spend a considerable amount of time on the production floor, observing plant operations and developing department supervisors.
Oversee daily operations of production, driving productivity, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, and suggesting profit-improving process changes.
Manage and supervise department managers (production supervisors). This includes hiring and training of direct management reports, providing direction and guidance, coaching and guidance.
Ensure high performance in efficiency, accuracy and quality in all plant departments.
Implement standard operating procedures with division and assure they are being followed to create consistency and standardization in all we do.
Analyze and recommend plans for improvement - assess and recommend equipment improvements, methods and process improvements.
Achieve budget goals to ensure profitable operations and continuous improvement for all plant service centers.
Interview, select, hire, develop, train and progressively counsel (if necessary) all direct reports in conjunction with HR.
Ensure compliance to internal safety protocols and OSHA rules and regulations. Introduce programs directed at creating safety awareness amongst all employees and move us closer to achieving zero accidents within your division.
How is success measured for this position?
Productivity measurements, PPOH, labor percentage, utility utilization/costs, order fill rates, safety performance
Requirements:
At least of 4 years of plant management experience, preferably in high volume commercial laundry
Bilingual in Spanish is a highly preferred
Experience with both COG and Rental laundry is preferred
Demonstrated ability to lead, train and manage a team's performance
Demonstrated knowledge of plant operation methods, equipment, techniques, engineering and maintenance
Ability to manage, support, and motivate other people
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
Deliver daily, weekly and monthly operating reports as defined by senior management
Must be proficient in MS Excel and basic mobile communication tools
