Plumber ApprenticeSalary: Hourly rate: $14.55 - $17.32 Work days: 238 (8 hrs. per day)Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma, GED, or equivalentTexas Plumber Apprentice Registration, preferredValid Texas driver's license6 months experience in plumbing field, preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of plumbing codesAbility to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference materialAbility to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to speak, read, and write in the English languagePerformance Responsibilities and Duties:Maintenance and Repair:Assists in assembling, installs, maintains, and pressure tests all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codesAssists in determining sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work ordersAssists in installing and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc.Assists in repairing dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water consumptionReceives and complete work ordersAssists in selecting material and hardware and make time and materials estimatesMaintains accurate records on material and labor usedMaintains inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materialsInspects jobs upon completion and ensure areas are cleanAssists in working with building principals and supervisors to complete projectsAssists in detecting needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspections proceduresResponds to emergency calls as neededPerform other duties as assignedSafety:Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipmentOperates tools and equipment according to established safety proceduresEnsures that equipment is in safe operating conditionFollows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediatelyOther:Ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations.Support the goals and objectives of the school district and follows district policies.Maintains a professional level of confidentiality concerning personnel and students.Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the CISD safety program.Equipment Used:Hand and power tools; pipe bender; propane torch; welding equipment; sewer rooter; heavy equipment, including forklift, trencher, backhoe. Lift truck or van.Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around gas lines, around fumes and toxic chemicals, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures.
