Licensed Journeyman PlumberJob Title: Licensed Journeyman Plumber FLSA: NonexemptReports to: Director/Executive Director of Maintenance Pay Grade: Auxiliary - 7 Dept./School: Maintenance Department/ Calendar Days: 256 Bamberg Resource Center Revised: Primary Purpose: The Licensed Journeyman Plumber, under general supervision, assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures to maintain the safe and efficient operation of all plumbing systems districtwide.Education/CertificationHigh School Diploma or GEDTexas journeyman plumber's licenseBackflow license preferred; or must attain license within 6 months of employment (district provides support for certification efforts)Clear and valid Texas Driver's LicenseEligible for coverage under the district's vehicle insurance programSpecial Knowledge/SkillsAbility to read, write, speak, and understand the English languageKnowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniquesKnowledge of plumbing codesAbility to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference materialAbility to read and understand instructions for maintenance and safety proceduresAbility to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to diagnose and resolve problemsAbility to meet and work with people in a positive and helpful mannerExperienceMinimum of four (4) years of plumbing experienceMajor Responsibilities and DutiesMaintenance and Repair 1. Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes 2. Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures; determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders 3. Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment including sinks, commodes, and water heaters Install and repair kitchen equipment such as gas stoves and dishwashers 14. Receive and complete work orders Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates Maintain accurate records on material and labor used 5. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean 6. Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects 7. Respond to emergency calls as neededSafety 8. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition 9. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures 10. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor 11. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure that equipment is in safe operating condition 12. Follow district safety protocols and emergency proceduresOther 13. Attend training classes and seminars as directed 14. Follow District Policy, Administration Guidelines, and Employee Handbook/Supplement directives 15. May be required to adjust schedule to meet work load demands 16. Perform other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities None Evaluation The evaluation of the Licensed Journeyman Plumber is a responsibility resting with the Executive Director of Maintenance. An evaluation shall be completed in writing at least once during the course of the school year.
