Job description
School PlumberWallingford-Swarthmore School District believes in all students. As such, we believe that the appropriate supports need to be in place to help all students achieve. We recognize the importance of our support staff in ensuring we are providing students, staff, and our community with what is needed to make our district the most successful it can be, through showing dignity and respect to all.The school plumber maintains all plumbing systems in district facilities to ensure safe and continuous operation. Such oversight includes maintaining the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures.Responsibilities:Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, toilets, water heaters, water softeners, etc.Repair dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water consumption.Receive and complete work orders.Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.Other duties as assignedRequirements:Employee must be able to: continuously walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend/kneel, reach, and lift heavy object. The work environment may include tiring and uncomfortable positions, especially around gas lines, fumes and potentially hazardous chemicals. The position requires frequent districtwide travel and there is risk of exposure to extreme temperatures.The employee will be expected to operate the following:Hand/power toolspipe benderpropane torch/ welding equipmentsewer/drain cleaners and augersheavy equipment, including forklift, trencher, backhoeoperate a light truck or vanQualifications:High School Graduate or EquivalentAssociate's degree or relevant training/courseworkMinimum of three (3) years of experience in a plant/building maintenance setting such as commercial buildings, residential apartment buildings, and public buildings. Experience in a K-12 setting, preferredAbility to deal effectively and courteously with associates and the general publicPay Rate:Pay rate may vary based on experience and "Master Plumber" statusEmployment in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District is non-discriminatory.
