Wildland Fire Apparatus TechnicianBME Fire Trucks is seeking skilled Plumbing Technicians with experience. We are a locally owned Fire Truck manufacturer in Boise, Idaho. BME manufactures wildland fire apparatus used in the US and Canada for wildland fire suppression. As a plumbing technician, you will read and understand blueprints and collect the proper materials needed to start the pump plumbing assembly process. You will use hand and power tools to complete their tasks. You must maintain a clean and safe working environment.Your responsibilities will include:Preparing pipe for plumbing installation including cutting and threadingPerforming hydrostatic leak tests and recording resultsRepairing any identified leaksInstalling plastic/rubber pneumatic gauge tubing and making connectionsFitting and installing pump panel and mechanical linkagesPerforming tack-welding for pipe and bracketryPerforming vacuum tests and recording resultsReading and interpreting blueprints and 3D drawing modelsCreating custom fabrication, such as brackets and pipe routingRequirements:Ability to measure accurately to 1/16"Proficient using pneumatic or battery powered hand tools (ex. drilling, grinding, reciprocating saws)3 or more years demonstrated mechanical experience in areas such as:AutomotiveMachinery applications (ie: farming, race cars, auto maintenance, etc)Residential plumbingNatural (utilities) gas/water plumbingAbility to perform plumbing and welding functionsThis is a full-time permanent position located on site in Boise, Idaho.
