May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, program editing, and machining procedures. Does some programming of machines.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesCalculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.Machine and inspect parts to specifications.Set up, adjust, and operate many specialized tools to perform precision machining operations.Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.Ability to accurately measure using micrometers and calipers.Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and to determine product dimensions and tolerances.Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machining with knowledge of modern cutting tool technologies.Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.Ability to do some tool-room type work working with jigs and fixtures.Effective time management skills.Maintain a clean and safe work environment through the use of lean production principlesBend and fabricate sheet metalKnowledge You Should BringMust be able to program and set up CNC machines with guidanceKnowledge or prior experience with EZ-CAM software or CAD software helpfulPrevious experience with a programing and using Plasma Table preferredUnderstanding of dimensioning and tolerance.Proficient in basic math skillsKnowledge of dimensioning and GD&T tolerancesKnowledge of reading blueprints and G-CodeKnowledge of feeds and speeds used for machining of metals and plasticsKnowledge of the working properties of metals.Minimum RequirementsEducation: Prefer Technical Education in MachiningYears of Experience: 3-5 yearsOther QualificationsExcellent organizational and project planning skills.Ability to communicate effectively with teamAble to work independentlyExcellent interpersonal skillsAble to organize and prioritize workloadPhysical RequirementsFrequently (61-90%)StandingTwist using elbowTwist using shoulderPush with finger or thumbHeel of hand to pushGrip with fist (i.e. tools)Use of pincer grip with tools(i.e. nippers)Use of pincer grip with thumb and finger(s)Twisting lower armTurning of wrist (left and right)Bending of wrist (up and down)Reaching out in frontLifting up to 50 lbsSometimes(31-60%)Stand bent over (i.e. looking down at bench)KneelingSitting bent over look (i.e. looking down at bench)Reaching above shouldersReaching below waistHeavy lift (50+ lbs) as team liftRarely (1-30%)Sitting looking up (i.e. monitor too high)SquattingStanding looking up (i.e. monitor too high)Using push motion (i.e. cart)Using pulling motion (i.e. pallet jack)Where We WorkThis position is open to applicants who can work in (or relocate to) the following location(s)-Hibbing, MN US.
