Job description
A respected acute care hospital in Vermont is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist II / Point-of-Care Coordinator to join its laboratory team.
This position works 80 hours bi-weekly, with hours primarily scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Flexibility may be required for varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage.
Position Overview
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II / Point-of-Care Coordinator functions as a generalist across all laboratory sections while providing advanced technical and administrative oversight of point-of-care testing performed throughout the hospital and at hospital-owned practices.
This position is responsible for ensuring that point-of-care testing is performed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable quality, regulatory, and accreditation standards. A strong understanding of laboratory principles and point-of-care testing is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee point-of-care testing performed within the hospital and affiliated practices
Maintain point-of-care instruments and testing systems
Monitor quality control and implement corrective actions when needed
Develop and maintain policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements
Train and assess the competency of non-laboratory personnel performing CLIA-waived and provider-performed microscopy testing
Troubleshoot technical issues and support continuous process improvement
Provide technical guidance and training to laboratory and clinical staff
Schedule
Permanent, full-time position
80 hours bi-weekly
Primarily 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.
Flexibility for varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage may be required
