Job description

The Danville Police Department is Recruiting!

The Danville Police Department is recruiting new candidates to join our team. We will be hiring immediately upon completion of all testing and background checks. Selections will be made by the City of Danville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. Applying is now easier and more efficient because we are utilizing the National Testing Network. Qualifications

All police officer candidates must be able to successfully pass physical agility, a written test, an oral interview, and medical and psychological testing. All candidates are required to have a high school diploma or equivalent. A thorough background investigation is required for all candidates prior to consideration for hire. All candidates must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to appointment and be eligible to carry a firearm in the State of Illinois. Each candidate must be 21 to 40 years of age by the beginning of Basic Law Enforcement Training.

Special Requirements

Employees of the City must establish their principal residence within forty-five (45) miles of the City of Danville corporate limits within six (6) months following successful completion of their probationary period.

Employees of the City of Danville are expected to be honest, courteous, and helpful to the public and handle matters in confidence. The City Council has adopted a "Code of Ethics" that is applicable to all employees and officers of the City.
