Police Officer and Police Officer II PositionsThe City of Lansing is currently seeking candidates for Police Officer and Police Officer II positions. $1,500 Hiring Bonus Agreement is Available. These positions provide law enforcement and public safety services to the community to include enforcement of criminal statutes and ordinances, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, patrol activity, accident investigation, resolution of domestic and other disturbances, prosecution support, and non-criminal public safety services. These positions require good communication skills & passing of various law enforcement tests. Patrol schedule included 8-hour shifts on a rotating basis.$23.16 to $26.47 per hour - Compensation is Dependent On Qualifications. Full-time position with excellent benefit package. Retirement benefits through the Kansas Public Employer's Retirement system (KP&F). Equal Opportunity Employer.Police Officer Minimum Qualifications:Must be 21 years of agePossess and maintain a valid driver's licenseHave a clean driving recordHave a high school diploma or equivalentReside within a thirty-mile radius of CityNo criminal record or Brady-Giglio material/issues in backgroundPolice Officer Preferred qualifications:Associate's degree from an accredited college/universityKansas Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training (KS-CPOST) certificationPolice Officer II Minimum Qualifications:Must be 21 years of agePossess and maintain a valid Kansas driver's licenseHave a clean driving recordHave a high school diploma or equivalentReside within a thirty-mile radius of CityNo criminal record or Brady-Giglio material/issues in backgroundKansas Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training (KS-CPOST) certification5 years experience with another Law Enforcement AgencyInstructor Certification in Law Enforcement related discipline, and teach 1 eight-hour class every calendar year.Police Officer II Preferred qualifications:Associate's degree from an accredited college/universitySelected candidate(s) must:Pass a physical agility test & written examPass an extensive background checkBe interviewed by oral interview boardBe interviewed by the Chief of PoliceFinal candidate(s) must submit to:A psychological evaluationPhysical/Health screeningDrug & Alcohol screeningFunctional capacity testStarting Pay Incentives:Graduation from KLETC 2%Associates Degree 2% - Degree must be from an accredited college/university and must be in an applicable field.Bachelors Degree 4% - Degree must be from an accredited college/university and must be in an applicable field.Masters Degree 6% - Degree must be from an accredited college/university and must be in an applicable field.Bi-lingual 2% - Applied to language(s) that serve the needs of the department.Instructor Certification 2% - Instructor certification in a Law Enforcement related discipline and ability to teach one 8-hour course annually.Current KS-CPOST Certified with prior years of experience:1 year 2.5%2 years 5%3 years 7.5%4 years 10%5 years 12.5%
