Job TitleLaw Enforcement OfficerQualifications1. Possession of law enforcement certification from Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) in any State; OR Currently enrolled and attending an ACCS Pathway to APOST Certification Course (applicant must provide enrollment or acceptance letter from the Academy or ACCS);2. Applicants possessing a State of Alabama POST Certification must be three (3) years or more past graduation date listed on APOST certificate;3. Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit;4. Ability to pass a thorough background checkPreferred Qualification: Fluent in SpanishResponsibilitiesPerforms a variety of law enforcement duties in the preservation of public peace and prevention of crimes, including protecting life and property, enforcing all laws and ordinances, investigating crimes and accidents, making arrests, providing credible testimony in various courts, conducting traffic surveys to determine problem areas, assisting in school and community functions, as well as, public relations activities, and other cases as assigned.Supplemental InformationAs only one application can be submitted per candidate for a particular job posting, please make certain that your application meets the minimum requirements at the time of application.All candidates must provide a copy of their current POST certification or a copy of a current acceptance, enrollment, or welcome letter from the academy/ACCS confirming that the applicant is currently enrolled and attending an ACCS Pathway to APOST Certification Course. Police Officer candidate finalists will then be evaluated based on personal interviews.In order to be eligible for employment with the Hoover Police Department a candidate must successfully complete the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test.
