Police OfficerIncumbent protects the lives, peace and property rights of citizens. Guards public safety and enforces all laws and ordinances under the jurisdiction of the Police Department.Minimum Requirements:Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment before taking actionGood oral, written and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to operate the following equipment: Firearms, cameras, radios, telephones, handcuffs, computers, baton, flares, radar and breathalyzerAbility to walk/run moderate distances in pursuit, climb stairs and ladders, jump and dodge obstacles, lift, carry and drag heavy objects and people, bend and reach, use force of moderate duration, use restraining devices and control holdsAbility to travel for training purposesHigh school diploma or equivalentCertified Police Officer with two (2) years of experience in a police departmentCurrent CT P.O.S.T. Certification or equivalentMeet CT P.O.S.T hiring standards, including medical and polygraphNo felony convictions or misdemeanors involving moral turpitude or issues of integrity.Valid Operator's License from state of residenceThe Mohegan Tribal Government is committed to Native American Preference and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
