Police OfficerUniversity PoliceFull TimePrimary ResponsibilitiesProtects and serves the students, visitors, faculty, and staff of the Southeast Missouri State University campusPatrols and protects the properties, buildings and grounds of campusInvestigates crimes for presentation to municipal and county attorneys for criminal prosecutionsResponds to requests for service and campus emergenciesEnforces student Code of Conduct and makes referrals to the Office of Student ConductConducts patrols and makes routine security checks of campus buildingsPerforms protective duties to provide police services in assigned areas of campusProvides safety and crime prevention education for the campus communityMaintains a valid driver licenseMaintains Post certificationRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED; college coursework or degree a plusMust be Missouri POST certified or have completed an approved academy training program and become Missouri POST certified by first day of employmentMust possess a valid Missouri driver licenseMust be available to work any hours, rotating shifts, days, nights, weekends and holidays; subject to call in as neededExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent problem-solving abilities and organizational skillsDemonstrated experience and understanding of customer service and community policing philosophyDemonstrated sound judgement in handling sensitive situations with tact, discretion and confidentialityRequired Background Check: Must successfully pass all Assessments, Pre-Employment Testing, and Post-Offer Testing which at a minimum will include a criminal background check, polygraph exam and drug testing. Must be 21 years of age, a United States citizen, with no felony convictions of moral turpitude, or misdemeanor domestic violence convictions.
