Job description
Skilled Electrical And Mechanical WorkSkilled electrical and mechanical work in operating systems and machinery related to power generation, frequency conversion, potable water pumping, raw water pumping, and auxiliary related equipment. Work includes monitoring, operating, routine maintenance and minor repairs of water and sewer pumping and control equipment. Work requires shift assignment including nights, weekends and holidays; and related work as required.Minimum Qualifications1. High school diploma or GED equivalent. 2. Four years of utility experience with power generation or frequency conversion or water pumping. 3. Possession of a valid driver's license. 4. Water Production or Distribution Class I license. Note: Domicile requirements are currently waived for the purpose of application. Residency requirements are waived for all Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans positions vacant and advertised for at least 90 days. Employees hired under this waiver remain exempt from the city's residency requirement for the duration of their employment at the Sewerage and Water Board. Additional exceptions to the domicile requirement may be made on a case-by-case basis. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
