Job description
InsulatorApply insulating materials to pipes or ductwork, or other mechanical systems in order to help control and maintain temperature.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic.Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, and equipment use.Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required.Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws in order to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage.Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives and scissors.Prepare surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading on adhesives, cement, or asphalt, or by attaching metal pins to surfaces.Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.Select appropriate insulation such as fiberglass, Styrofoam, or cork, based on the heat retaining or excluding characteristics of the material.Distribute insulating materials evenly into small spaces within floors, ceilings, or walls, using blowers and hose attachments.Fill blower hoppers with insulating materials.Qualifications:Minimum three (3) years' experience Industrial Insulating experience.Four (4) years' experience in power plant or maintenance experience preferred.Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements:Must be able to complete hiring paperwork electronically via DocuSignMay be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 poundsMust posses enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified aboveMust be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areasMust have full range of motion consistent with ageMust be able to climb and maintain balance laddersMust be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms and other job-related noisesVisual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfacesSafety/Steel toe shoes are required.Equal Opportunity EmployerAs a leading provider of mechanical and electrical construction, facilities services, and energy infrastructure, we offer employees a competitive salary and benefits package and we are always looking for individuals with the talent and skills required to contribute to our continued growth and success.
