Preconstruction Manager – General Contractor
A well-established, family-owned General Contractor in the Carolinas is seeking a Preconstruction professional to support commercial construction projects across the commercial, healthcare and education sectors. The company offers expertise in construction management, design-build, virtual construction, green building and public-private partnerships, with a strong focus on professional development, teamwork and long-term career growth.
About the Role
Preconstruction professional to support commercial construction projects across the commercial, healthcare and education sectors, leading preconstruction activities and collaborating with owners, architects, design teams and project managers throughout the preconstruction process.
Responsibilities
Lead preconstruction activities from initial concept through final estimate and contract award.
Review drawings, specifications and design documents to develop accurate budgets, estimates and project schedules.
Work closely with owners, architects, design teams and project managers throughout the preconstruction process.
Provide value engineering and cost-saving recommendations.
Develop procurement strategies and identify project risks and cost efficiencies.
Solicit, review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
Build and maintain relationships with trade partners and suppliers.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, bid packages and final contract pricing.
Qualifications
5+ years of commercial construction experience in estimating or preconstruction with a General Contractor.
Experience across commercial, healthcare and/or education projects preferred.
Strong understanding of conceptual estimating, budgeting, bid preparation and subcontractor procurement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Destiny (Beck Technology) or similar estimating software preferred.
Excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, design teams and internal project teams.
Required Skills
Strong understanding of conceptual estimating, budgeting, bid preparation and subcontractor procurement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
