Precision Inspector (Starlink)Bastrop, TXSpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. SpaceX demands a new type of supply chain to support Starlink Product. We require our suppliers to provide premium quality with rapidly evolving designs at increasingly ambitious volumes.Responsibilities:Complete surface plate work/inspection of machined aerospace partsInspect supplied product according to the applicable drawing and or work order specifications to verify that it conforms to all design requirementsPerform complex inspections following standardized methodsComplete in-process inspection, visual and/or dimensional inspection of precision machined partsInteract proactively with production to improve products and reduce defectsCommunicate and help resolve quality related issuesDocument non-conformances in accordance with prescribed procedures and processesSupport quality management system policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance to company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and Lean manufacturing initiativesWork in a cross functional environment utilizing PC-DMIS programming skills as applied to DCC CMMsCreate, maintain and verify CMM programs used for the measurements of manufactured and supplied partsPerform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design and specification requirementsBasic Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalency certificate5+ years of quality inspection experience in a machine shop1+ years of experience with blueprint reading, shop math and GD&TDCC (direct computer controlled) CMM with PC-DMIS software experiencePreferred Skills and Experience:Understanding of ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systemsSolid computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and ExcelAbility to review drawings and identify improper callouts/datum structures, according to ASME Y14.5Thorough understanding of all layout inspection tools (surface plate, height gage, indicators, calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, thread gages, etc.)Additional Requirements:Able to lift 25lbsAble to perform repetitive movement, lift, stand, climb, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, stretch, crawl, maneuver in tight spaces, and carry are generally required to perform the functions of this positionAble to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distractingWillingness to work overtime hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlinesITAR Requirements:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
