Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer for the Flight Systems Futures team located in Roy, UT. The role focuses on the design, development, procurement, manufacturing, integration, and test of novel flight systems across a broad spectrum of applications.
Responsibilities
Develop functional block diagrams (Visio preferred)
Capture schematics (Altium preferred)
Perform PSPICE electrical simulation
Develop electrical requirements and assist system engineers
Conduct electrical analysis to ensure compliance with requirements
Generate electrical interface control documents
Design electrical system architecture, including grounding, power distribution, communication buses, and discrete signaling
Basic Qualifications
5 years of experience combined with a Bachelor of Science; 3 years with a Master of Science; 1 year with a Ph.D.
Active or current Secret clearance at time of application
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time
Electrical design experience for hypersonic systems, flight systems, missiles, and related platforms
Required Experience
Functional block diagram creation (Visio preferred)
Schematic capture (Altium preferred)
PSPICE electrical simulation
Electrical requirements development and assistance to system engineers
Electrical analysis for compliance with requirements
Electrical interface control document generation
Electrical system architecture design, including grounding, power distribution, communication buses, and discrete signaling
Preferred Qualifications
Electrical component and subsystem selection
Analog and digital circuit design
Circuit analysis and troubleshooting
Use of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other basic electronics lab equipment
Circuit board design and electronic circuit testing
Cable design and testing
Engineering for EMI/EMC/ESD compliance (Mil-Std-46)
Responsible Engineer (RE) for electronics subsystems
Management of third‑party contractors and vendors
Additional Information
This position is contingent upon contract award. The standard work schedule is 9/80. The role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Primary level salary range: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00. Salary may vary based on experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and in some cases, long‑term incentives.
