Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Systems Engineer to join our diverse team, working on the Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) portfolio of programs in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will support the FAAD Integration and Test team for an Army Air Defense System that includes defense against manned aircraft; rockets, artillery, and mortars; unmanned aerial systems (UAS); and cruise missile defense.All work must be performed on-site in Redondo Beach.This requisition may be filled at the Principal System Engineer or Senior Principal System Engineer level:Principal System Engineer - Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5 years of relevant experience in system engineering related to software systems; or 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD) or 9 years of experience in lieu of degree may be consideredSenior Principal System Engineer - Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8 years of relevant experience in system engineering related to software systems; or 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD) or 12 years of experience in lieu of degree may be consideredEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Become expert in the operation of the FAAD SystemBecome expert in connecting the FAAD System to various sensors, weapons, and Army tactical interfacesDevelop and execute System Test Threads on the FAAD software applicationClearly explain and document (verbally and in writing) problems and improvements in the FAAD SystemExplain and execute software test procedures for NG mission assurance and government test witnessingPrepare technical presentations for management and the government customerSupport the integration and test of the FAAD system with other systems at various tests around the worldAnalyze interface and functionality problemsWork with the software team to correct or improve capabilitiesVerify successful integration of the FAAD System with interfacing systemsTravel up to 25% of the time is requiredBasic Qualifications:Experience with integration and testing of softwareExcellent written and oral communication skillsExperience creating test scenarios to test new functionality and verify requirementsAble to multi-task and demonstrate strong time-management skillsDemonstrated ability to function in fast-paced, rapidly changing environmentDemonstrated ability to follow detailed steps in order to ensure tests are completed and products deliveredHold or able to obtain a DoD Secret clearanceFollowing are good to have, but are not required:Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)Strong mathematics and statistics aptitude/experienceAbility to read and interpret system level requirementsExperience with public speaking in order to present test material directly to customersAbility to work with diverse technical, programmatic and user communities, supporting the modernization, capability development, integration and test of an Army command and control systemCurrent DoD Secret clearancePrimary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
