Together, we partner for success, win through teamwork and create packaging solutions for today and tomorrow.Position Summary:Reporting to the Printing Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator in the Printing Department is responsible for operating a printing press and packing / unpacking rigid plastic containers and lids. A fully qualified Press Operator will be skilled in the following key responsibilities areas however may only be required to perform one or more of the responsibilities at a given time.Position Responsibilities:Tear Down of Printing Presses:Perform job kit verificationLine ClearanceReplace platesWash and prepare colour headsRun All Lid and Base Presses:• Includes all six and eight colour presses• Pack / Unpack boxes according to customer requirements• Take trending tray samples• Apply labels and stamp every box without pre-labeling• Cover other machines for lunch and breaksMonitor Product Quality:• Visually inspects product at the packing station• Maintain trending trayPerform Product Control Duties:Update job cardsEnter information on Daily Machine Scheduling and Attainment Board (White Board)Adhere to Company Policies and Procedures:• Never compromise safety• Treat fellow Team Members with honesty, respect and dignity• Meet standards of conduct• Adhere to 5S, HACCP and Health and Safety rulesSkills/Experience Required:Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an assetPhysical Requirements: Must be able to work with constant exposure to moving machinery and noise. The physical requirements include movements of a repetitious and unchanging nature.Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skillsAdditional Education/Experience/Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others as part of a teamCore Competencies:Ability to give concentrated attention for long periods of timeUses sound judgment to make good decisionsAdapts to changing work environments, work priorities and organizational needsThis job requires the majority of the time to be spent on the air-conditioned shop floor exposed to a noisy environment.
