nMercy Hospital's 28-bed Medical/Surgical Unit is a specialized unit that focuses on providing care for both telemetry and medical/surgical patients. Half of the rooms on this unit are private. This unit is typically fast-paced and allows our caregivers to assess, diagnose, and treat medical concerns with non-invasive methods. As a PCNA on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients as they receive crucial treatment and medical attention. This position offers a flexible schedule and the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you have an excellent opportunity to start your nursing career and work in a supportive and caring healthcare setting.
nA PRN caregiver in this position works varying days and hours between 7:00AM - 7:00AM, including weekends and holidays.
nA caregiver who excels in this role will:
nnnProvide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley Catheters.

nnReport abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
n
nnAssist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.
n
n nMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
nnnHigh School Diploma or GED
n
nnBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period
n
nnNursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required prior to hire
n
n nPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
nnnState Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification
n
nnMilitary experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) considered
n
n nPhysical Requirements:
nnnRequires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
n
nnMedium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
n
nnPhysical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
n
n nPersonal Protective Equipment:
nnFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
n nPay Range
nMinimum hourly: $20.75
nMaximum hourly: $20.75
