nMercy Hospital's 7M Medical Telemetry Unit cares for a diverse population of patients ranging from ages 18 to 100+ years old. This unit cares for patients who have peg tubes, foley catheters, central lines, and tracheostomies, are post-heart catheterization, require wound care, have drug and alcohol addictions, or have mental illnesses and are waiting for placement at a psychiatric facility. Minimal bedside procedures are done on this unit, but caregivers occasionally see fluid aspiration from joints and incision/drainage of small skin abscesses. By joining this team as a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA), you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. Your work is essential to the foundation of care patients receive.

nA PRN caregiver in this position works variable days and hours, including weekends and holidays. Working 48 hours per 6-week period will be required.
nA caregiver who excels in this role will:
nnnProvide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.

nnReport abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
n
nnAssist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.
n
n nMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
nnnHigh School Diploma or GED
n
nnBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period
n
nnNursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required upon hire
n
nnMilitary experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
n
n nPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
nnnState Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
n
nnNursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program
n
n nPhysical Requirements:
nnnRequires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
n
nnMedium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
n
nnPhysical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
n
n nPersonal Protective Equipment:
nnFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
n nPay Range
nMinimum hourly: $20.75
nMaximum hourly: $20.75
