Job description
Heavy Equipment Operator – OrganicsThe Heavy Equipment Operator – Organics processes green waste and other organic material by using loaders and various sorting, grinding, and screening equipment throughout the day to produce high quality compost and mulch.Essential Job Functions:Maintain safe operating conditions of equipment and area at all timesPerform pre and post trip inspection of all equipment operated dailyWork with peers as a team in completing major tasks successfullyPerform material grading and properly process material to create final productImmediately report any unsafe equipment or actions to direct supervisionWork overtime as neededPerforms other duties as needed by direct supervision.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma and/or GEDMust be able to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions for equipmentEffective verbal and written communication skillsExceptional organizational skillsAbility to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodationsPreferred Qualifications:Bilingual – English/Spanish.Class A or B commercial driver's licenseAcceptable driving recordPhysical/Environmental Demands:Physical: Standing, walking, sitting, seeing, hearing, touching, stooping, lifting, & smelling continuously.Problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, & interpersonal abilities continuously.Eye/hand coordination, visual depth perception, handling, & wrist motion continuously.Environmental: Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, windy conditions & noise continuously.Exposure to flying debris and sharp objects occasionally.Works outside only.Salary: $26.05 - $29.49 per hourBenefits:Competitive wagesComprehensive benefit package Medical, Dental, Vision401KLife InsurancePaid Vacation and Sick TimeCareer planRecognition programsProfessional development learningAn exceptional work environmentAthens will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance and any other applicable state, federal or local laws.
