Job description

We are partnering with a growing construction organization seeking a Procurement Engineer to support complex, fast-moving projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the combination of technical problem-solving, purchasing, supplier coordination, and project execution . You will work closely with project teams and vendors to source materials and equipment, evaluate options, manage orders, and resolve issues that could affect cost or schedule.

This is not a routine purchasing position. The role is ideal for someone who likes digging into technical details, solving problems, juggling multiple priorities, and taking ownership of an assignment from initial request through final delivery.

What You'll Do

Coordinate purchasing activities for multiple active construction projects.

Review material and equipment needs with project and operations teams.

Obtain and evaluate pricing from manufacturers, suppliers, and vendors.

Prepare and manage purchase orders through delivery.

Review specifications, drawings, product information, quotes, and other technical documentation.

Research products, manufacturers, alternatives, and sourcing options.

Compare purchasing options based on pricing, availability, lead times, logistics, quality, and overall project requirements.

Identify potential material shortages, long-lead items, or supply challenges.

Track open orders and maintain visibility into expected delivery dates.

Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, shipments, substitutions, and order changes.

Resolve issues involving incorrect orders, damaged materials, shortages, pricing discrepancies, or delivery delays.

Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.

Keep project stakeholders informed of changes that may affect schedule, cost, or material availability.

Build strong working relationships with project teams, operations personnel, and suppliers.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, organized, and motivated by getting things done.

You may be a strong fit if you:

Enjoy solving problems and figuring out unfamiliar products or technical requirements.

Can manage a high volume of activity without sacrificing accuracy.

Take ownership and follow assignments through completion.

Are comfortable working in an environment where priorities can change quickly.

Know when to ask questions and when to independently find an answer.

Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Can balance multiple deadlines and open items simultaneously.

Enjoy working with suppliers and negotiating practical solutions.

Have strong attention to detail while still understanding the bigger project picture.

Prefer a role where your decisions have a visible impact on project success.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience in procurement, purchasing, engineering, construction, manufacturing, supply chain, or another project-driven environment is preferred.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Comfortable reviewing technical information and learning unfamiliar products or systems.

Proficiency with Excel and standard business software.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This position gives you the opportunity to develop a valuable combination of technical, commercial, and project-management skills .

Rather than being limited to transactional purchasing, you will have exposure to sourcing, supplier relationships, technical materials, project schedules, cost considerations, and real-world construction challenges.

You'll be trusted to take ownership, solve problems, and help keep projects moving. For someone who wants to build a career at the intersection of construction, engineering, procurement, and operations , this can be a highly rewarding next step.
