Job description
Rugby Architectural Building Products is a wholesale distributor of specialty building products, operating out of 26 branches throughout the United States. Our primary business is non-structural architectural grade building products sold principally to customers who create and produce end-products for the commercial, industrial, retail, residential and institutional markets. (In New Century, KS, Lebanon, TN, and Rockford, IL – we do business as: Olathe Millworks, Warren Brother Sash & Door, River City Millworks respectfully.)
Position: We are seeking a Procurement Specialist . This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of products while maintaining cost-efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, excellent negotiation skills, and a keen understanding of the lumber industry. Primarily remote position based out of Mid-West or West Coast areas with occasional travel to branch locations required.

Your Day-to-Day:
Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure the best deals.
Procurement Planning: Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet the company’s needs for lumber and building materials. Analyze market trends and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
Order Management: Place orders, monitor inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of products. Manage and resolve any issues related to order fulfillment and quality.
Cost Control: Monitor and analyze purchasing costs. Develop strategies to reduce expenses and improve cost-efficiency while maintaining product quality.
Inventory Management: Coordinate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels. Assist in forecasting demand and adjusting procurement schedules as needed.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information. Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, costs, and performance metrics.
Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and legal regulations. Stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
Should You Apply?
Are you based in the Mid-West or West Coast?
At least 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Procurement Specialist in the lumber field
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
