Job description

Production FloaterThis role supports a fast-paced production environment by loading materials onto the line, stacking materials as they come off the line, and assisting with shipping and receiving activities. You perform visual quality inspections, cut tiles to size using hand and power tools, and stack or palletize finished tiles for shipment. The position requires safe material handling, attention to detail, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently, with team lifts for heavier items.ResponsibilitiesLoad raw materials onto the production line in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.Stack and organize materials as they come off the production line to maintain a continuous workflow.Perform visual quality inspections on tiles and materials to ensure they meet specified standards.Cut tiles to size using appropriate hand tools and power tools, following production specifications.Stack and palletize finished tiles, ensuring pallets are stable, properly labeled, and ready for shipment.Handle tiles that typically weigh around 2 pounds each, with occasional heavier tiles that require careful lifting or team lifting.Use material handling equipment, including forklifts when qualified, to move materials and finished products within the facility.Support general production tasks such as assembly, finishing, and packing as needed.Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe lifting techniques.Maintain a clean and organized work area to support a safe and efficient production environment.Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure production goals and quality standards are consistently met.Essential SkillsAt least 1 year of machine operation or production line experience in a manufacturing or general production environment.Experience performing visual quality inspections on products or materials.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and participate in team lifts for heavier items.Background in production, general production, or manufacturing industry work.Experience with packing and palletizing finished products.Familiarity with assembly, production, and machine operator tasks.Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.Experience as a material handler and basic understanding of material flow in a production setting.Forklift experience or willingness to operate forklifts when trained and authorized.Reliability in following safety procedures and wearing required personal protective equipment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in finishing operations such as trimming, cutting, or final preparation of products.Previous work in environments involving fiberglass or similar materials.Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled facility where temperatures may be warmer in the summer.Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects during visual inspection.Willingness to work different shifts as needed, including overtime.Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented production environment.Openness to cross-training and taking on additional responsibilities as skills develop.Why Work Here?You join a clean, well-organized production facility that invests in your growth and recognizes your contributions. The role involves working with fiberglass, which may cause sensitivity for some individuals; to address this, the company provides personal protective equipment, including coverage for arms and neck to help avoid irritation. Gloves, earplugs, and safety glasses are supplied and expected to be used as part of standard safety practices. Most items handled are very light, and while the ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required, lifts at the upper range are rare and heavier items are handled as team lifts. The schedule includes multiple shifts: 1st shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with overtime extending to 3:00 p.m.; 2nd shift runs from 2:50 p.m. to 12:50 a.m. Monday through Thursday, with overtime on Friday; and 3rd shift runs from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. The environment emphasizes safety, consistent use of PPE, and efficient production processes.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hilliard, OH.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
