Job description

Tester & Wire Harness Technician SupervisorTesla is seeking an experienced Tester & Wire Harness Technician Supervisor to lead a team of technicians in the production assembly of high-reliability wire harnesses and discrete wire assemblies. This role requires strong leadership combined with hands-on technical expertise in interconnect systems, connectors, production soldering, schematic interpretation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance to ensure the team delivers assemblies that meet engineering, reliability, and production standards.ResponsibilitiesDisplay a positive attitude and practice a strong work ethic that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of Tesla.Supervise, coach, train, and develop a team of Wire Harness Technicians, including performance management, scheduling, and ensuring adherence to production goals, quality, safety, and ESD standards.Oversee the assembly, inspection, and processing of wire harnesses and discrete wire assemblies according to drawings, schematics, BOMs, and work instructions in a production environment.Direct and ensure high-quality execution of wire cutting, stripping, crimping, tinning, soldering, and connector/terminal terminations, including pin-out verification.Interpret electrical schematics, connector pin-outs, wiring diagrams, and CAD models; guide the team in accurate setup, wiring, and issue diagnosis.Lead electrical troubleshooting of harnesses, wiring defects, connectors, and assemblies using diagnostic tools, visual inspection, continuity/hi-pot testing, and schematics; document production issues and collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to drive root-cause resolution and continuous improvement.Monitor daily production output, quality metrics, and resource needs; maintain soldering stations, crimpers, wire processors, and other production equipment, while supporting additional manufacturing or team tasks as business needs evolve.RequirementsSeveral years of proven hands-on experience assembling discrete wire harnesses, interconnects, and connectors in a production setting, including soldering of wires, terminals, and related components; prior experience in automotive, aerospace, or high-volume electronics manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.Prior experience leading, supervising, or mentoring technicians or production teams in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated ability to drive performance, accountability, and team development.Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, connector pin-outs, wiring diagrams, and CAD drawings, with the ability to train others and utilize basic CAD viewing or manufacturing execution tools.Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for wiring, connector, and harness issues, plus the ability to support and develop the team in these areas.Knowledge of or certification in IPC J-STD standards (e.g., IPC-J-STD-001 for soldering) and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 for cable and wire harness assemblies; familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and quality systems is a plus.Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, drive production rates and quality, follow and enforce documented procedures, and maintain safety, ESD, and quality standards while leading by example on the production floor.Solid leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.Compensation & BenefitsBenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deductionFamily-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefitsDental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contributionCompany Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSAHealthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefitsCompany paid Basic Life, AD&DShort-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period)Employee Assistance ProgramSick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid HolidaysBack-up childcare and parenting support resourcesVoluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insuranceWeight Loss and Tobacco Cessation ProgramsTesla Babies programCommuter benefitsEmployee discounts and perks program
