Production LeadVaagen Timbers, LLC. is a family-owned glue laminate facility located in Colville, WA. We pride ourselves in sustainably creating Cross Laminated & Glue Laminated Timber products. Our products are created with byproduct from the restoration of our forests to a sustainable state so that future generations can enjoy the unprecedented beauty and allure that is the Pacific Northwest. We heavily believe in continuous improvement and respect for people and are currently in a Lean transformation.The primary role of the Production Lead is to guide the team; including, but not limited to, production flow and scheduling with a continued focus on safety, and productivity. A successful candidate will create a culture of teamwork and cooperation between major processing segments and integrate operating personnel and maintenance staff. Through cross training, the Production Lead is expected to assist with all positions across the facility.Job Description:Promote safety to the team members and be an example of taking the lead in putting safety firstCoach, teach, and train team members - including documentation, disciplinary, hiring, training, project management, maintenance, schedules, and coordination with other departmentsOperate all production machinery throughout the facility and rolling stockImplement and maintain Quality Control Programs that certify the product meets our company high quality standardsBuild sustainable communication bridges between departments for quality, production changes, and inventory plans.Know, understand, and apply all aspects of the Quality Management System, and Standard Quality Control ProceduresMonitor the quality of product and correct issues when substandard conditions existAnalyzes, identifies causes, and implements corrective action on potential issuesUnderstanding of company profit, value, and cost analysisAttend a variety of daily huddles and operating meetingsDetermine how systems should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomesOptimize human capacity of team based on operational flow and needsPerforms mandatory pre-shift checklists and daily maintenance recordsAssist with preventive/predictive maintenance activities and cleaningOversees and supports training and mentoring of employeesSupport Lean improvements and projectsKnow, understand, and apply the Lock-out Tag-out proceduresEntry level laborer duties, including but not limited to, stacking boards, general cleanup, removal of wood waste and debris, and tending machinesMaintain a clean and safe work areaEnsure tools, supplies, and equipment are in their "home locations" at all timesMaintain lines of communication with other team membersFill out a maintenance request and Idea Cards when neededOther duties as assignedJob Requirements:Leadership experience in the production industry5+ years in a leadership role overseeing 8+ people, preferredAbility to create quality and cost analysisMaintenance knowledge, preferredAbility to solve problems with a solution-oriented focusExcellent in a team environment, with exceptional communication and customer service skillsSelf-directed leader, safe leadership record, and can coach, teach, and train others to be leadersProblem solving, technical troubleshooting, communication, planning, and organization skillsStrong computer skills, including knowledge in Microsoft productsEnsure safe work practices & follow safety proceduresDependable and reliable with a good attendance recordAbility to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibilityLean techniques and experience preferredMust be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environmentMust have HS Diploma/GEDMust be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely. The weight required to be lifted each normal workday may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds at a timeApplicants will be subject to a criminal background check.
