Job description
Amca Industrial BaseAmca is building America's new industrial base. Since the 1990s, our ability to build new aviation and military systems and maintain the ones we already have has eroded. Today, the gap between what the nation needs to produce and what it is capable of producing is the largest it has been in generations. To help close that gap, Amca rapidly develops and manufactures new critical components and subsystems required to build and sustain the planes, military vehicles, and core infrastructure America needs. Today, we operate seven factories nationwide, including our advanced prototyping and testing headquarters in El Segundo, and deliver avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for platforms such as the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, A320neo, A321, Mk-48, and M1 Abrams.Internship OverviewAmca is hiring hands-on production operations interns to help keep tens of thousands of components a month moving through the factories quickly, efficiently, and reliably. The work also supports Protoshop, where the goal is to take new engineered products from design to qualification faster than any other organization in the country.Interns spend significant time on the floor, machining, testing, and assembling parts, and use what they learn firsthand to make those processes better. The best ideas come from the people doing the work, and improvements show up in output, lead times, and quality. All interns should want to get their hands dirty.ResponsibilitiesWork hands-on in machining, assembly, and test, learning how each part is actually made and where the process breaks downSpot bottlenecks, rework, and wasted motion from the floor, then work with operators and engineers to fix themSupport Protoshop programs as new products move from design through build, testing, and qualificationDevelop and document standard work, fixtures, tooling, and process improvements that make production faster and more repeatableTrack throughput, cycle time, yield, and scrap to confirm that changes are workingCoordinate with engineering, supply chain, quality, and program management to keep builds on scheduleBasic QualificationsGenuine desire to work hands-on in manufacturing, including machining, assembly, and testingWillingness to spend significant time on the factory floorInterest in improving how parts are made, with a focus on output, lead times, and qualityAbility to collaborate with operators, engineers, and cross-functional teams such as supply chain, quality, and program managementPreferred Skills and ExperienceHands-on experience machining, assembling, or testing parts or hardware, through coursework, a project team, a job, or personal projectsExperience spotting and fixing process problems such as bottlenecks, rework, or wasted motionFamiliarity with production metrics such as throughput, cycle time, yield, and scrapInterest in a fast-moving environment where new products go from design to qualification quicklyHourly Pay Range $30 —$50 USDThis position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
