Job description

Production OperatorThe Production Operator is responsible for operating machinery and equipment in their department to process logs into lumber and other wood products. This role requires attention to safety, efficiency, and quality control while performing various tasks and maintaining equipment.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs.Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.Learn the safe and efficient operation of each machine assigned.Understand and actively apply yourself in the operator work-up program to advance through training and experience.Serve as a relief operator for a wide variety of functions, machinery and workstations.Keep work area clean and organized and clean all additional areas as assigned.Maintain acceptable production levels.Duties vary by location.Required qualifications include:Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Must be able to work various shifts, days, and overtime as needed.Capable of following instructions and communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues.Must possess attention to detail and a commitment to quality control.Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.Preferred qualifications include:Previous experience in manufacturing or mill environment.High school diploma or GED.Valid driver's license.Physical demands include:Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.Bend at waist – frequentTwist upper body – frequentStoop – occasionalLift above waist height – frequent depending on machine centerLift over 50 lbs. – frequent depending on machine centerRepetitive use of hands – constantStand/walk – constantSit – occasionalVision – near and far correctable; depth perceptionHearing – preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, emergenciesWork environment includes:Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).Idaho Forest Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals on the basis of race/ethnicity, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, age, genetic information, family medical history, or any other status protected by law.
