Production OperatorHot JobCOLUMBIA, MO 65202OverviewSalary Range $21.00 - $28.00 HourlyDescriptionSUMMARY:Operate extrusion equipment within acceptable standards for quality, wall control and machine performance with assistance from the shift supervisorESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Demonstrates ability to meet qualification requirements and maintains minimum standard of performance for the job level.Operates all assigned extrusion equipment.Works under the close direction of the supervisor.Bell and unitize pipe products.Operates forklift when required.Visibly inspect pipe for flaws.Operates banding equipment and other miscellaneous packaging equipment.Builds wooden frames when necessary.Sets up and operates extruders, pullers, vacuum tanks, pre-heaters, cut-off saws, printers and bellers.Assists during changeovers.Maintains proper cut length and makes adjustments with the assistance of the supervisorMaintains constant observation of extrusion heats and all other machine conditions. Makes necessary adjustments under the direction of the supervisorPerforms required QC inspections and testsPerforms all required inspections; wall thickness, outside diameter, ovality, cut length, bell length and records the results per J-M specificationsRecords all required data on inspection and equipment conditionVerifies all in process Q.C. checks and test and evaluates resultsMakes miscellaneous minor repairs to equipmentRelieves other positions for lunch and breaksBe willing to learn new tasks and take on individual responsibilities.Keeps equipment and working area clean and orderly, including painting of assigned equipmentUses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all timesPerforms other miscellaneous jobs as directedQualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and gloves. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
