Production Operator - Foam GluingAvalon and Tahoe - Alma, MI 48901OverviewSalary Range $16.50 Hourly Level Entry Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day Education Level High School Travel Percentage None Category ManufacturingDescriptionJob Summary: The foam gluing laborer uses a glue spray gun to glue various foam components to their wood counterparts to create the core of each furniture piece. The completed components are then placed in a staging area to be picked by the upholsterers. The foam gluing laborer supports the upholsterers.Key ResponsibilitiesAdheres to all safety policies and proceduresFollows all pre-established installation and quality methods, procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency of workReads order-specific job travelers and/or engineered drawings to ensure each order is produced to specificationsUses various hand tools and glue gun to glue foam components to furniture core piecesCompletes all job duties within given time constraintsPerforms other duties as assignedCross-trains between several different jobsCleans and maintains work areaPursues continuous improvement to improve efficiency of job duties and work flowQualificationsJob Requirements: High school diploma or GED Attention to detail Excellent problem solving skills Good verbal and written communication skills Needs good visual judgment to notice errors and/or defects Ability to accurately read a tape measure Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to work in a fast paced, multifunctional team oriented work environment Ability to work variable hours with short notice (up to 50+ hrs. per week)Physical Requirements and EnvironmentMust be physically capable of safely lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. without assistanceInvolves standing, bending and lifting for long periods as requiredRequires repetitive movementIncludes exposure to noise levels that are distracting and/or uncomfortableRequires wearing personal protective equipment
