The company's commitment to finding new and better ways to RECLAIM, RECYCLE and REUSE bridges the sustainability goals of scrap tire generators nationwide with those of local scrap rubber consumers.The Operator works in the Production department and will learn over time multiple areas of responsibility in the Production process. This may include Shredders, Granulators, Bagging, Tower and in the Millrooms. We have a 5 step program and your pay will increase as you learn new skills.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Operate and understand functionality of shredders, granulators, mills, screening and vibration machinesUnderstand the production flow of materialsAssist with plant change oversMonitor and adjust equipment to meet product specificationsTroubleshoot minor issues with equipment to maintain operationReport any operating or mechanical faults or issues to supervisor or company reporting systemEnsure production processes and machinery are maintained in good, safe efficient working conditionPerform regular equipment maintenance procedures to ensure production capacity and qualityConduct quality control checksOperate fork lift to move product in preparation for processing and afterMaintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulationsUnderstand and follow all established safety, health, quality, procedures and practicesComply with OSHA safety and health rulesThis position does not have any supervisor responsibility, but will require training of new hiresPerforms all other duties as assignedJob Specifications:Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbalAbility to follow company operating procedures, safety rules and ISO requirementsUnderstanding of production procedures and processesAbility to read and understand written operating instructions and work order requirementsAbility to operate all department equipment safelyAbility to drive a forklift and previous certificationExcellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workProblem solving and trouble shooting skills – Ability to identify, troubleshoot and communicate with managementMechanical AptitudeAttention to detailAbility to work well in a team environment and also independently with little direct supervision within the parameters of instruction, processes, rules, safety procedures and accepted practicesSelf-MotivatedSafety First MindsetExperience and Education Requirements:High School Diploma/GEDPrevious experience as an Operator or craftsman in manufacturing environment (18 months minimum)Forklift Operation (18 months) a plusCable Truck Operation a plusExperience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment (18 months minimum)Demonstrated ability to work independentlyDemonstrated ability to work in a physically demanding high temperature environment for extended periodsPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles and vibrationThe employee is exposed to heat in production – No A/C environmentLifting, overhead work, standing, climbing stairs, climbing stairs while carrying and moving throughout most of the day – physical stamina requiredThe noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE must be wornMay be required to work in confined space for short periods of timeThis is a full-time position, requires 12 1/2 hour work shift, rotating days/nights including weekends, on-callOvertime may be requiredOn Call schedule will be required, and participation is mandatoryMust wear uniforms, protective clothing and safety shoeEvery potential new hire MUST successfully complete a Job Placement AssessmentMust have reliable transportation and ability to commute from home to work on time as required by team schedule and shift assignedWhile performing the duties of this job. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must repetitively lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
